Milan, 8 June 2022 - VGP NV (“VGP” or “the Group”) VGP, a pan-European developer, manager and owner high-quality logistics and semi-industrial real estate, announces the acquisition of a new area of over 125,000 sqm in Valsamoggia, in the province of Bologna, for the construction of a new business park with a covered area of about 33,000 sqm.
Two years after handing over the site to the well-known Italian sportswear company Macron, VGP continues to invest in the Bologna area, the manufacturing centre of the country, and extends its presence in Valsamoggia.
VGP Park Valsamoggia 2 is strategically located about five kilometres from the centre of Bologna and one kilometre from the exit of the A1 motorway, the main artery linking Milan and Naples.
The park is located in the centre of a dynamic area with a high presence of industrial districts and several Italian manufacturing excellences. In line with the European real estate portfolio, which includes over 32 per cent light industrial activities, VGP Park Valsamoggia 2 is intended to host manufacturing activities.
VGP will develop the project from a 'Built-To-Suit' perspective, in order to guarantee the best customisation of the properties once the clients are identified.
“This new milestone makes us very proud”, said Agostino Emanuele, Country Manager VGP Italy. “The new park in Valsamoggia will feature high levels of property construction, with a special focus on sustainable building, one of the key priorities for our Group.”
Agostino Emanuele also highlighted how VGP's strategy includes a strong connection with the territory in which it develops its properties. “In fact, we share the work of projects at all stages with public administrations, and in the Bologna area, VGP also aims to link up with the production and industrial world, which we also plan to strengthen with VGP's association with Confindustria Emilia Centro starting this year.”
The application of state-of-the-art technologies and energy efficiency are central parameters for the logistics and production buildings developed by VGP. The new parks are in fact built according to high environmental standards, including BREEAM Excellent certification, and photovoltaic panels on the roof.
VGP is currently pursuing the authorisation process for the VGP Park in Valsamoggia 2 with the aim of starting construction in the second half of 2022, with a timeline of about 12 months.
By the end of 2023, there will be three VGP parks in the Valsamoggia area, thanks also to the development of a new 12,000-square-metre property that will be built for an important local manufacturing company.
VGP has about 400 customers in Europe, logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing, including some of the major players in the automotive sector.
In Italy, VGP's development plan is full of projects: VGP Park Valsamoggia 2 follows the recent announcement of the acquisition of two brownfields and the start of work on business parks in Paderno Dugnano and Legnano in the Milan area. Moreover, important national and international clients have recently entrusted VGP Italy with the construction of their new sites, with a pipeline, to date, of 4 new BTS projects between the end of 2022 and 2023.
