VGP, a pan-European owner, manager and developer of high-quality logistics and semi-industrial real estate, recently handed over the keys for VGP Park Loures to DPD and DHL, the two tenants of this new park.

VGP Park Loures broke ground a year ago, in October 2022, marking VGP's entry into Lisbon with its inaugural project dedicated entirely to Last Mile logistics.

Situated in Santo António de Cavaleiros, just 13 km from the centre of Lisbon and 7 km from the airport, the park is strategically surrounded by an extensive network of roads and public infrastructures, making it an ideal location for proximity logistics. With a total gross lettable area of almost 20,000 m2, the park has been fully leased by DPD and DHL, who have now formally taken posession of the keys to their respective properties.

VGP Park Loures adheres to the core strategic principles of VGP: a prime location, sustainability, and energy efficiency features, with an aim for BREEAM Excellent certification.

"The move to these premises represents a huge milestone in DPD's history, as it will allow us to expand our activity in this area of operation, while also improving our processes. I would like to remind you that this new hub has a new sorting machine with a crossbelt system that is unique in Portugal. In line with DPD's green business strategy, the building is aiming for the BREEAM Excellent certification which proves the building's high level of environmental sustainability. Additionally 120 electric charging stations are being provided for the vehicles in our fleet," says Olivier Establet, CEO of DPD Portugal.

"This project at VGP Park Loures symbolises DHL's commitment to driving innovation and excellence in logistics. Handing over the keys to DHL eCommerce Portugal not only represents the start of a new era, but also a key step in our journey to revolutionise logistics in an environmentally responsible way. This terminal has been designed to minimise ecological impact, using advanced technologies in energy efficiency, water management and carbon emission reduction. These practices are perfectly aligned with our ambitious goal of achieving zero emissions by 2050, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to optimising our Last Mile delivery solutions in an efficient and sustainable way, as the future of logistics demands." Says Jorge Oliveira, Managing Director of DHL Parcel Portugal.
