VGP has handed over Apollo Tyres’ warehouse in Győr
Budapest, 20 November 2023 - Apollo Tyres' new distribution centre in VGP Park Győr has been completed. The European logistics and light-industrial real estate provider has handed over a 24,000 m2 warehouse and 600 m2 office building to the international tyre manufacturer. Apollo Tyres' A-class, environmentally friendly building is located right next to the Audi factory in Győr and will serve as a European distribution centre in the future.
VGP Park Győr is located along the M1 motorway connecting Vienna to Budapest, near the exit at km 112. The Park offers excellent infrastructure and is easily accessible by public transport.
The building is going to be certified to obtain at least the Very Good rating under the BREEAM International New Construction scheme. The project will be evaluated in 10 categories, and in as many as 4 the facility scored 70 or more per cent. A 78 per cent score is anticipated for this new building for “Water”, while “Management” scored 90 per cent, “Waste” 86 per cent and “Land use and ecology” 70 per cent.
The high scores in individual categories can be attributed to the wide range of environment-friendly solutions adopted in the facility by implementing an efficient water-saving system, including drinking water, which helps maintaining water balance with created fauna thriving without irrigation and relying solely on precipitation during all seasons of the year. Moreover, a waste reduction system was applied during construction while an advanced energy-metering system with remote monitoring was installed in the final building. The facility in Győr also features dedicated car sharing parking lots, electric chargers for environment-friendly vehicles and numerous bicycle amenities. The ecological initiatives were supervised by ecologists who identified the best biodiversity solutions.
VGP Park Győr also includes a bee farm created by the company. The two hectares of land, sown with a perennial seed mix, has been serving the area's bee colonies at full capacity for two years now during spring and summer seasons.
