Barcelona/Madrid, 19 January 2023.- The pan-European company VGP, owner, manager and developer of high-quality logistics and industrial properties, has leased a building in VGP Park San Fernando de Henares to the healthcare logistics operator Bomi Group, that has recently become part of UPS and is the current owner of Picking Farma. The total rented area amounts to 27,578 square meters, divided between 25,291 square meters of warehouse and 2,287 square meters of offices. This is Bomi Group's largest logistics asset in Spain, which also operates in VGP Park Lliçà d'Amunt (Barcelona), and the first VGP building to be certified with the BREEAM Excellent energy seal in Spain.

Located in the strategic town of San Fernando de Henares, just 15 km northeast of Madrid, the VGP Park San Fernando de Henares logistics and industrial park has a constructed surface area of 117,035 square meters (on a 222,712 square meter plot) and 8 state-of-the-art buildings. In addition to Bomi Group, the park also houses the companies ThyssenKrupp, Rhenus, Noatum, Logwin Solutions, Huawei, DIGI, Paack and DSV.

Like all VGP logistics and industrial projects, the building that the healthcare logistics provider occupies is based on the construction and leasing of sustainable and energy-efficient business parks. In addition, it is certified with the BREEAM Excellent energy efficiency seal, making it the first VGP building in Spain to obtain this certification.

Among other measures, the warehouse uses 100% renewable energy and has state-of-the-art energy technologies, such as the generation of hot water in offices through energy reuse systems, reduction of water in all sanitary furniture, technological lighting LED, air conditioning using highly efficient equipment and thermal modeling of the building, which also has a controlled temperature system, with a range of 15-25ºC inside.

“We are very proud to be able to welcome a leading company such as Bomi Group at VGP Park San Fernando de Henares and offer it a building that meets the highest standards of quality and sustainability and, at the same time, has been built to adapt to the specific requirements of the client, in this case the qualification of the warehouse to house a High Risk 8 activity according to RSCIEI”, says Dirk Mittermüller, Commercial Director of VGP Spain.

“Our customers are in some of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the world, and their next-generation products require near perfect service”, says Jordi Cusidó, Iberia Country Manager, Bomi Group. “By providing end-to-end visibility of location and temperature, we can ensure patient-critical products are delivered where they need to be, at the right time, and at the right temperature”.

Another of the relevant sustainable strategies of this building is the execution of a purifying façade in the loading docks, which contributes to the purification of the air through a chemical reaction, helping to improve the quality of outdoor air and the elimination of microorganisms potentially harmful to health.

In addition, the building has been built using sustainable construction practices.
